Steps

Among my many recipes, today I want to give you the red apple tart, a simple yet delicious dessert that can be served on any occasion.

The tart is a very versatile dessert, which can be filled with any seasonal fruit. However, the combination of red apples and shortcrust pastry is a classic of Italian cuisine.

  • To prepare the red apple tart, you need to make the shortcrust pastry: mix the sifted flour with the softened butter, sugar, eggs (one at a time), a pinch of salt, baking powder, milk, and the vanillin packet. Let it rest in the fridge for at least 30 minutes.

Meanwhile, wash and slice the apples thinly, without peeling them!

After taking the shortcrust pastry out of the fridge, roll it out in a previously greased and floured baking pan

Add the apricot jam as desired, arrange the apple slices with the peel on top (to form a rose), alternating a layer of apples and a layer of shortcrust pastry. Finally, sprinkle with granulated sugar and bake at 350°F for 30/35 minutes on the middle-lower rack of the oven!

The tart will be ready when the surface is golden.

Tips

The red apple tart is perfect for an afternoon snack with friends, a brunch, or a dessert after dinner. Its simplicity also makes it perfect for personalization with other additions, such as almonds, raisins, or custard.

Try it at home and enjoy the pleasure of cooking and sharing food with the people you care about.

FAQ (Questions and Answers)

  • Can I make it in advance?

Yes! I recommend making it the day before: the flavor improves, and the apples soften perfectly.

  • Can it be frozen?

Better not, as the apples lose texture. But you can freeze the shortcrust, raw or cooked.

  • Can I use puff pastry?

Yes, but you’ll get a different effect, more flaky and less “rustic.” Great if you’re short on time.
