- 2.2 lbs potatoes
- 2 eggs
- 1.8 oz cured sausage (or salami)
- 0.7 oz grated Parmesan cheese
- breadcrumbs
- 0.5 oz butter
- 3.5 oz smoked cheese
- salt
- 1 sprig parsley

Steps
To prepare the gateau in the air fryer, first wash the potatoes and place them in a pot that can hold them and cover with plenty of water. Once the water boils, cook for about 40 minutes or until the fork easily penetrates the potatoes.
Once cooked, with the help of a potato masher, mash the still-hot potatoes into a bowl. Let them cool slightly and add a couple of pinches of salt, the butter, eggs, finely chopped parsley, grated Parmesan cheese and mix everything until a homogeneous mixture is obtained.
Take the baking pan (in my case I used a rigid parchment paper mold), grease it with a little oil and pour in half of the potato mixture. With the help of your hands, press the mixture to distribute it evenly on the bottom of the pan.
Stuff with chunks of smoked cheese, add sliced sausage and pour the remaining potato mixture and distribute it with your hands. To finish, sprinkle the surface with breadcrumbs and make a couple of sprays of extra virgin olive oil or alternatively distribute a thin thread of oil.
Place the baking pan in the air fryer basket and cook at 375°F for 20 minutes. After the necessary time, take out the pan, let it rest for a few minutes and you can serve your gateau.
Storage and Tips
The gateau in the air fryer can be stored in the fridge for 2-3 days in an airtight container. When you need to consume it, reheat it for a few minutes.
If you don’t have a suitable baking pan for your air fryer, you can line the basket with parchment paper, making sure it doesn’t touch the heating element.
