This Nutella braid is super easy to make; you’ll have a dessert or a delicious snack ready in just a few steps that everyone will love. If you want to prepare homemade hazelnut spread or if you’d like to make it with pistachios, you can easily replace the Nutella with pistachio spread instead.
The Nutella braid stays soft for days just under a glass dome or inside a bag in the pantry. It doesn’t need to be refrigerated; in fact, it’s better out.
Your kids (and not only them) will go crazy for it. I love making it especially when I know my nieces are visiting and I do both Nutella and pistachio versions to please them.

Lastly, incorporate the sugar and cold butter from the fridge in small pieces.
Knead vigorously until everything is combined, and you have a smooth and elastic dough.
Cover with a cloth and let rise until doubled in size (it will take at least 5 hours).
Once risen, sprinkle the work surface with a little flour and roll out the dough into a long, narrow rectangle.
Spread with Nutella (if too hard, soften it a bit in the microwave).
Roll up the rectangle to form a long loaf like a baguette, then cut it lengthwise without reaching the top of the loaf.
Braid the two parts, keeping the cut side up so the Nutella layers are visible.
Place the Nutella braid on the baking sheet lined with parchment paper and let it rise for another hour.
Preheat the oven to 340°F and bake the Nutella braid on the middle rack for at least 25 minutes.
Remove from the oven, let cool, and if desired, sprinkle with powdered sugar and…
