Ingredients for Christmas Orange Cookies

  • 3 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1/2 packet baking powder
  • 1 orange (grated zest + juice)
  • to taste Vanilla powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2/3 cup sugar

Tools

  • Cookie Cutter
  • Large Bowl capacious
  • Rolling Pin

Preparation of Christmas Orange Cookies

  • In a large bowl, pour the sifted flour, a pinch of salt, baking powder, and room temperature butter.

Work the dough with a wooden spoon and add the grated orange, sugar, whole egg + yolk. Mix the ingredients well and slowly add the orange juice with the vanilla extract.

  • Transfer the dough onto a board and knead with your hands. If it appears too soft, add a little more flour.

Form a nice loaf and wrap it in cling film, now let it rest in the fridge for about half an hour.

After the time has passed, take the loaf out of the fridge and on a floured board roll out a sheet about 3/16 inch thick.

  • Orange shortcrust pastry
  • Cut out our cookies with the tree-shaped cutter; if desired, cookies can be made in many Christmas shapes. I almost always prefer the steel cutters.

Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake them at 356°F for about 15 minutes. Always adjust to your oven’s temperature, they should not become too dark on the surface.

Once ready, let them cool on a wire rack and before serving, dust with vanilla powdered sugar and enjoy!
