Ingredients for 2 people

  • 2 hamburgers
  • 2 hamburger buns
  • 5.3 oz bacon
  • 3.5 oz lettuce
  • 1 beefsteak tomato
  • 2 slices American cheese

Tools

  • 1 Knife
  • 1 Cutting board
  • 1 Skillet 8-10 inches
  • 1 Lid

Procedure

To cook skillet hamburgers, I recommend following the instructions you find here and you will get one of the best you’ve ever tried.

  • Whether you’ve bought ready-made hamburgers or made them yourself at home, remember to take them out of the refrigerator before frying.

The ideal thing is at least 30 minutes before, so they are at room temperature at the time of cooking.

  • Place a non-stick skillet on the stove over high heat, when the skillet is hot, place the hamburger and start cooking.

The skillet must be hot to seal the meat, a cold skillet would boil the meat, removing the juices and leaving the hamburger dry and tough.

  • When the hamburger has cooked on the first side, releasing a brown crust in the skillet, it is time to turn it to the other side. Complete the cooking of the second side for another 5 minutes.

Do not use salt during cooking as it absorbs the liquids, drying out the hamburger.

  • For a perfect hamburger, I recommend also cooking the crispy bacon. Add the cheese to the hamburger in the skillet and turn off the heat.

To melt the cheese, the best thing is to cover the skillet with the lid; the moisture will melt the cheese, leaving the meat juicy and flavorful.

  • Last advice, warm the bread in the skillet so it can absorb the flavor and juices left in the skillet. Now that the bread is warm, you can assemble your hamburger.

    Your skillet hamburger is ready!

Plating advice:

You can serve the skillet hamburger with a delicious side, such as classic pan-fried paprika potatoes or a coleslaw salad.

Wine pairing with hamburgers:

The hamburger pairs well with a full-bodied red wine, such as a Chianti, Brunello, or Montepulciano. If you want to stick to a classic pairing, I recommend an artisan beer or a double malt beer.
