Chocolate salami, an eggless recipe perfect for the whole family. I made chocolate salami for the first time to please my son, who found a version in a comic book, and I must say that the whole family enjoyed it except for my son, the very one who suggested it, because he loves making desserts with me but doesn’t eat them. Anyway, I’ve tried different versions with and without eggs, and this is the one I liked most. Here and on my YouTube channel you can also find the video recipe.

  • Difficulty: Very easy
  • Cost: Cheap
  • Rest time: 5 Hours
  • Preparation time: 15 Minutes
  • Portions: 6
  • Cooking methods: No cooking
  • Cuisine: Italian
  • Seasonality: All seasons

Ingredients

  • 7 oz dry cookies (such as Petit, Saiwa)
  • 7 tbsp butter (melted)
  • 7 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • cup sugar
  • 3 tbsp milk (at room temperature)
  • to taste powdered sugar
  • 2 tsp unsweetened cocoa powder

Tools

  • 1 Bowl
  • 1 Spatula
  • 1 Parchment paper
  • 1 Saucepan
  • 1 Scale

Steps

Let’s start by crumbling the cookies coarsely in a nice large bowl, make sure they don’t turn into powder as the larger pieces will create the typical white internal parts of the salami.

  • Continue by adding sugar to the cookies, mix well, then add the unsweetened cocoa powder and continue mixing. Add the butter and combine everything. At this point, gradually add the milk and let it be fully absorbed.

  • Now we have a soft and workable mixture, spread it on a sheet of parchment paper and, using the paper, shape it into a log. Roll the chocolate salami in the sheet and seal the edges, let it harden in the fridge overnight.

  • After the resting time, unwrap the salami and to give color and authenticity to the outer part, roll it in powdered sugar mixed with 2 teaspoons of unsweetened cocoa. The chocolate salami is now ready to be enjoyed. To store it, wrap it again in parchment paper and keep it in the fridge.
