Ingredients

  • 4 eggs (large)
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2/3 cup corn oil
  • 1 cup sugar (3/4 cup for a less sweet version)
  • 3/4 cup fresh liquid cream
  • grated zest of 1 untreated lemon
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 packet baking powder
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tablespoon powdered sugar

Tools

  • 1 Bundt Cake Pan 24 cm pan
  • 1 Electric Mixer
  • 1 Stand Mixer
  • 1 Oven
  • 1 Sifter

Steps

  • Butter a 9.5-inch bundt pan.

Preheat the oven to 340°F static.

Sift the cocoa and add it to the powdered sugar, mix.

With an electric mixer or stand mixer, beat the eggs with the sugar, the pinch of salt, the grated lemon zest, and the vanilla extract.

Sift the flour with the baking powder.

Add the oil and cream to the eggs while continuing to beat.

Gradually incorporate the flour mixture; once the flour is fully incorporated and the batter is smooth and homogeneous, it’s ready.

Pour half of the batter into the buttered pan.

Add the cocoa to the remaining batter and mix until well combined.

Pour this on top of the light batter.

Bake the cake on the lower rack of the preheated oven at 340°F (just above the base) for about 45 minutes. Check doneness with a skewer; it should come out dry, otherwise, bake the bundt cake a few more minutes.

Once Grandma’s bundt cake is baked, remove it from the oven and let it cool. Once cooled, place it on a platter and sprinkle with powdered sugar.
