Ingredients for Apple and Walnut Cake without Butter
- 2.5 cups all-purpose flour
- 3 eggs (medium)
- 0.5 cup sugar
- 3 apples
- 1/3 cup sunflower oil
- 2/3 cup walnut kernels
- 2/3 cup milk (whole, skimmed or plant-based of choice)
- 1 packet baking powder

Preparation Apple and Walnut Cake without Butter
To prepare the apple and walnut cake without butter, first preheat the oven to 340°F, butter and flour a 9.5/10 inch pan.
Finely chop the walnuts and set aside.In a large bowl whisk the eggs with sugar until the mixture is firm and almost white, using electric whisks it will take about 3 minutes.
Add sunflower oil in a thin stream and continue to whisk at low speed.
Sift the flour with the baking powder twice.Gradually add a little flour and a little milk, always mixing at low speed with electric whisks.
If you prefer, you can do this step with a hand whisk to properly incorporate the flour.
Peel the apples and cut them into small pieces, add half to your batter, also add the chopped walnuts set aside.
Pour the mixture into the previously buttered and floured pan and distribute the remaining apple pieces on top.Bake in the middle rack of the oven and cook for 35/40 minutes checking that it doesn’t color too much on top, if you see it tends to burn in the last minutes you can cover the apple and walnut cake with parchment paper.
Remove the apple and walnut cake from the oven after performing the toothpick test, it should come out dry, let it cool before removing from the pan.
Once cool, before serving you can cover it with powdered sugar.
How to store the apple and walnut cake without butter
The apple and walnut cake can be stored under a glass dome for 3 or 4 days.
You can cut half of the apples into slices and cover the surface with these to make it more scenic.
