Ingredients for Soft Apple Fritters

  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/8 cups flour
  • 0.4 cups milk
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 orange zest (unwaxed)
  • 2 apples
  • as needed powdered sugar (for decoration)

  • Apple Corer

Preparation of Baked Apple Fritters

  • Mix the egg with the milk, sugar, and grated zest of an unwaxed orange in a bowl. You can simply mix with a fork.

  • Add the flour and baking powder and mix well with the fork. You will get a thick and fluid batter.

  • Peel the two apples, leaving them whole. Now remove the central core with an apple corer and then cut them into slices about 1/4 inch (about 5-6 mm) thick.

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Dip each apple slice in the batter so that it is well coated on all sides.

  • Place the slices on the parchment paper slightly spaced apart. Let the Baked Apple Fritters cook in the hot oven in static mode for 16-18 minutes until golden.

  • Let them cool and then transfer them to a serving plate and then sprinkle them with powdered sugar.

If you peel the apples in advance, wet them with the juice of a lemon to prevent them from darkening
