Chicken with Golden Delicious apples is a dish that combines the sweetness of Golden apples with the tenderness of chicken breast. A tasty and flavorful main course that will win you over!
To prepare the chicken with apples, it takes little time, just brown the floured chicken breast in a bit of oil, then brown the apples as well, and finally, everything is combined with a delicious and creamy sauce made of cream and mustard.
For this dish, I used Golden Delicious apples from Val Venosta, a variety available all year round, known for its sweetness and soft flesh.

Ingredients
- 1 onion
- 2 cloves garlic
- 1.1 lbs chicken breast (boneless)
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 4 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
- 2 Golden Delicious apples (Val Venosta Apple)
- 0.7 oz butter
- 3 sprigs thyme
- 2 sprigs rosemary
- 5 leaves sage
- 0.5 cup white wine
- 2 tablespoons mustard
- 0.6 cups heavy cream
- to taste salt
- to taste pepper
Steps
To make the chicken with Golden Delicious apples, peel the onion and garlic cloves, slice finely and set aside.
Cut the chicken breast into 8-9 lengthwise pieces and flour them.
Heat a pan with 2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil and add the floured chicken fillets. Sauté for about 5 minutes on each side, remove from the pan, and set aside.
Meanwhile, wash the Golden Delicious apples, remove the core, and cut into thin slices.
In the same pan used for the chicken, melt the butter and add the apple slices to sauté for a couple of minutes, just enough to soften them a bit. Remove from the pan and set aside.
Still using the same pan, heat two tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil, then add the sliced onion and garlic, and fry over high heat for about 5 minutes, stirring frequently, until the onions have wilted. Add the previously washed thyme, rosemary, and sage and stir.
Deglaze with white wine and let it evaporate.
Add the mustard and heavy cream, season with salt and pepper, and bring to a boil while stirring. Add the chicken breasts and cook everything, covered, for 6-7 minutes until the chicken is cooked. If the sauce thickens too much, add a bit of water.
Finally, add the Golden Delicious apple slices and heat everything for another minute.
Serve your chicken with Golden Delicious apples with a grind of fresh pepper.
