Ingredients
- 12 oz short pasta
- 1.8 oz onion
- 1 clove garlic
- 3 tbsps extra virgin olive oil
- 17.6 oz tomato sauce
- 3 leaves basil
- to taste salt
- 8.8 oz mozzarella
Steps
To prepare Sorrentina baked pasta, bring plenty of water to a boil in a large pot and salt it.
Meanwhile, prepare the sauce. Peel and finely chop the onion and garlic and sauté them in a pan with the extra virgin olive oil for 2-3 minutes. Add the tomato sauce and the previously washed basil leaves, salt, stir, and simmer gently for 25-30 minutes, covered, stirring occasionally.
Cut the mozzarella into cubes and set aside.
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (fan) and throw in the pasta.
Drain the pasta 4 minutes before its cooking time, reserving some cooking water.
Put the pasta in the pan with the sauce and stir. Add 3/4 of the mozzarella, along with some cooking water, and stir again. Transfer the seasoned pasta into a baking dish and distribute the remaining mozzarella on the surface.
Bake at 350 degrees F for 10-15 minutes. Remove from oven and serve your Sorrentina baked pasta immediately.
