The Savoy cabbage baked with cheese is a truly indulgent recipe. I never would have believed it, but cooked in the oven with alternating layers of cheese, it’s special. I love cabbage cooked simply and genuinely with tomato too, but this recipe surpasses the other in terms of taste. It can be enjoyed as a side dish but is quite filling, so I suggest maybe accompanying it with a steak or a cutlet.
- Cost: Medium
- Preparation time: 20 Minutes

Ingredients
- 1.1 lbs Savoy Cabbage (Savoy cabbage)
- 9 oz Provolone

- to taste Breadcrumbs
- to taste Grana Padano PDO (grated)
- 1 cup Milk
- 2 tbsp Extra Virgin Olive Oil
- to taste Coarse Salt
Tools
- Pot

Preparation
First, clean the Savoy cabbage. Remove the tougher, damaged outer leaves and the core.
Wash the leaves in a large bowl with plenty of water and baking soda. Repeat at least twice.
Boil the vegetable in a large pot of salted water for about ten minutes.
Drain in a colander and leave it for fifteen minutes.
Prepare a baking pan and pour a cup of milk and the oil on the bottom.
Alternate layers of seasoned cabbage with provolone and grated Grana cheese in the baking pan.
On the last layer, add the grated Grana, the cheese slices, and finally the breadcrumbs.
Bake in a preheated static oven at 482 degrees Fahrenheit without covering for thirty minutes.
The cheesy baked Savoy cabbage will become similar to a creamy-looking lasagna, quite inviting I’d say.
