  • 1 egg (large size)
  • 1 2/3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 3 tbsp butter (melted and cooled)
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • Half packet baking powder
  • 1/4 cup sugar sprinkles

Preparation of the Soft Tart to Fill

  • Melt the butter in a small pot, then set it aside to cool and proceed to the next step.

  • In a bowl, mix the eggs and sugar with a spoon until they become frothy.

  • Add the water to the egg mixture and blend well to obtain a homogeneous mixture.

  • Now pour in the melted (and now cooled) butter, stirring continuously with a spoon, and set aside.

  • In a separate bowl, sift the flour, baking powder, and unsweetened cocoa powder.

  • Add the sifted ingredients to the liquid mixture, mix with a spoon (or a hand whisk if you prefer) until you get a smooth mixture without lumps, the dough will be very soft.

  • Butter and flour a tart pan of 8 inches in diameter, pour the mixture in and level it, preheat the oven to 428°F.

  • When the oven is hot, sprinkle the sugar sprinkles on top and bake the tart, cook for 25 minutes, always perform the toothpick test towards the end of baking, once done remove the soft tart to fill from the oven.

  • Let the soft tart cool completely before removing it from the pan, this will prevent it from breaking.
