Original French Brioche Bread Recipe Passed Down

The original brioche bread recipe was given to me by a friend who taught me exactly how they make it. Bread is a food consumed all over the world and made in many ways, but French pastry is specialized in preparing this dough, which once baked in the oven remains soft and fluffy like brioche. It is appreciated for breakfast and snacks with a smear of jam or even Nutella. Loved by both young and old. It stays soft for a week, but especially when it’s freshly made, it disappears quickly. The intoxicating aroma it emits is remarkable, and as if by magic when there is brioche bread, all family members are present to enjoy this simple delight.

  • 0.88 oz Fresh Baker's Yeast
  • Eggs (1)

  • In a large bowl, pour all the ingredients and knead by hand for about twenty minutes.

  • Cover the dough to aid rising and leave until it has doubled.

  • Divide the dough into three equal parts, stretch into strips and braid.

  • Place the braid directly on the baking sheet and let rise again for thirty minutes.

  • Place a small pot with water at the bottom of the oven to create steam and make the bread even softer. Bake in a preheated oven at 400°F for about 35-40 minutes.

  • Let the brioche bread cool to slice it better and resist the temptation to eat it warm. Eating warm bread is not recommended.
