Crispy air fryer chickpeas, a quick, healthy, and tasty snack, perfect for any time of the day, but also great to serve during an aperitif. The recipe is very simple and you don’t even need to turn on the oven because they are made with an air fryer. Nothing stops you, if you prefer, from using the oven. In this case, you will need to increase the cooking time and decrease the temperature.
Spiced, very easy to make, and ready in less than 30 minutes, these air fryer chickpeas are prepared using pre-cooked legumes, the canned ones to be precise. The only very important thing is to pat the chickpeas very well with paper towels after rinsing and draining them from their preservation liquid. Also, once placed in the fryer basket, they should not overlap but be distributed evenly for proper cooking and crispiness.
To the legumes, add paprika, turmeric, garlic powder, flour, breadcrumbs, and aromatic herbs of your liking. And now, let’s head to the kitchen together because the crispy air fryer chickpeas will be ready in a click!

Ingredients
- 9 oz canned chickpeas (weight of drained legumes)
- 2 tbsps all-purpose flour
- 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil (plus some sprays for cooking)
- paprika (to taste)
- turmeric powder (to taste)
- aromatic herbs (to taste)
- garlic powder (to taste)
- salt (to taste)
- pepper (to taste)
- 1 tbsp breadcrumbs
Tools
- Air Fryer
- Bowl
Steps
First, drain the chickpeas from their preservation liquid and rinse them under water. Then, pat them very well with kitchen paper. Now add the flour, oil, salt, and pepper and mix. Now add the paprika, turmeric, garlic powder, and aromatic herbs of your choice. I used dried rosemary.
Mix again, also add the breadcrumbs and mix so that all the ingredients are perfectly blended. Transfer the seasoned chickpeas into the fryer basket, lined with a sheet of parchment paper.
Distribute the chickpeas very well, so they do not overlap each other. Cook at 360°F for 10 minutes, shake the basket, and then cook at 400°F for 20 minutes, always shaking the basket for even cooking.
After the cooking time, let cool and serve.
