Ingredients
- 8 oz Puff Pastry
- 14 oz Gruyere Cheese
- 3 Eggs
- 1 pinch Nutmeg
- 1 glass Milk
- 2 tbsps Flour
Tools
- Parchment Paper
- Food Processor
- Tart Pan
Preparation
Butter and flour a tart pan with a diameter of 13 inches. Roll out the puff pastry with a rolling pin, keeping its round shape, and place it at the bottom of the tart pan lined with parchment paper.
Prick the pastry with a fork to facilitate cooking. Pass the rolling pin over the edge of the tart pan to remove excess pastry, which can be used for decorations.
With the help of a food processor, grate the cheese. Prepare a batter with beaten eggs, flour, and milk poured in a stream while stirring with a whisk.
Spread the cheese evenly inside the tart pan. Pour the batter over it. Finally, add a pinch of nutmeg and bake at 392 degrees Fahrenheit.
After about twenty minutes of baking, you can take it out and eat it. Serve the rustic Gruyere cheese tart with a good side of fresh salad and preferably with a good red wine.
Rustic Gruyere Cheese Tart
Gruyere cheese is definitely recommended for the rustic cheese tart in this recipe. It can also be replaced with Emmental if you really can’t find it or prefer it.
In any case, it’s best enjoyed when hot. If there’s any leftover, reheat it in the microwave.
