Ingredients
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 7 tbsps butter
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 packet vanillin
- 4 apples
- 2 tbsps brown sugar
- ground cinnamon (to taste)
- lemon juice (to taste)
- powdered sugar (to taste)
Tools
- Tart Pan 9.5-inch with removable bottom
- Bowl
- Cutting Board
- Knife
- Frying Pan
Steps
First, clean the apples. Peel them, remove the core, and cut them into small cubes. Then transfer them to a bowl with the sugar and lemon juice and mix.
Then, cook the apples in a non-stick pan over low heat, stirring occasionally, until they release their water. At this point, raise the heat and let the juice dry. Once it has dried, turn off the heat and let it cool.
Now prepare the base of the crumbly pastry. It will not be a compact dough, but rather crumbly. The procedure will be the same as shortcrust pastry, although the quantity of the ingredients will be different, precisely to obtain a less compact dough. Work the soft butter into a cream with the sugar and vanillin. Then add the egg and continue mixing with a spoon until combined.
Add the flour now and continue kneading very quickly with your hands until compact crumbs begin to form. Line a 9.5-inch tart pan with parchment paper. To help keep the paper steady, you can dampen the pan with a little water. Place half the crumbs and compact them well on the bottom of the pan, smoothing the edges well, using your hands or the bottom of a glass.
Then spread the apple filling in the center and add the remaining crumbs, without compacting them. Bake the crumble in a preheated convection oven at 340°F for 30 minutes, or until the cake is golden brown.
Remove the crumble from the oven and let it cool. Then remove it from the pan and serve it in slices with a sprinkle of powdered sugar.
