Spicy baked feta, a simple and tasty main dish, perfect also to season a pasta dish or to enjoy on some bread crostini. A variant to the bread and pea pie, equally quick to prepare, even for a last-minute dinner.
The feta cooked in this way, in fact, can also be prepared in advance and placed in the oven when needed. For the recipe, I used dried oregano, chili pepper, and lemon zest, but you can use other herbs of your choice. Obviously, I didn’t add salt, because this cheese is already very flavorful and the herbs make this dish very tasty.
You can also enrich it with cherry tomatoes and olives and season a pasta dish. Ingredients
- 7 oz feta
- 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
- dried oregano (to taste)
- dried chili pepper (or fresh to taste)
- lemon zest (to taste)
- pepper (to taste)

Steps
First, dab the feta with some paper towels. I used 2 packages, so you will need to divide the two pieces into 6 large cubes. Arrange the pieces side by side in a round baking dish with a diameter of 8 inches.
Then add the herbs you prefer. I used oregano, but you can replace it or add others. Also add the chopped dried chili pepper, lemon zest, and pepper. Finally, add the oil as well.
Place the dish in a preheated oven at 392°F and bake with static mode for 30 minutes.
Storage and Tips for Spicy Baked Feta
This delicious main dish can be stored in the refrigerator in a container with a lid for a maximum of 1 or 2 days. It is also possible to prepare it in advance and bake it in the oven when needed.
