Ingredients
- 1 sheet puff pastry (rectangular)
- 2.5 oz cream cheese
- 2.1 oz mortadella (or cooked ham, or salami)
- 12 green olives
- 1 egg
Tools
- Baking Tray
- Parchment Paper
- Pastry Wheel
- Bowl
- Brush
Preparation
Unroll the puff pastry and divide it into two parts (without cutting it).
Spread half with a thin layer of cream cheese, you can use Philadelphia, mascarpone, or robiola.
Arrange the cold cut slices on top of the cheese (1).
Layer the other half of the puff pastry on top and press a little with your hands or with a rolling pin.
With a pastry wheel (or a knife), cut 12 strips of equal width (2).
Twist each strip and intertwine the ends, as seen in the photo (3).
Place the bunnies on a baking tray, and put a ball of parchment paper in the hole so it doesn’t close during baking.
Finally, brush them with the beaten egg (4).
Place everything in a fan oven at 365-375°F and bake for 18-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
At the end, remove from the oven and discard the paper ball. Insert the previously drained and dried green olives into the hole (5).
Your savory puff pastry bunnies are ready to be served, perfect for the Easter aperitif!
