Ingredients

  • 1 sheet puff pastry (rectangular)
  • 2.5 oz cream cheese
  • 2.1 oz mortadella (or cooked ham, or salami)
  • 12 green olives
  • 1 egg

Tools

  • Baking Tray
  • Parchment Paper
  • Pastry Wheel
  • Bowl
  • Brush

Preparation

  • Unroll the puff pastry and divide it into two parts (without cutting it).

Spread half with a thin layer of cream cheese, you can use Philadelphia, mascarpone, or robiola.

  • Arrange the cold cut slices on top of the cheese (1).

Layer the other half of the puff pastry on top and press a little with your hands or with a rolling pin.

With a pastry wheel (or a knife), cut 12 strips of equal width (2).

  • Twist each strip and intertwine the ends, as seen in the photo (3).

  • Place the bunnies on a baking tray, and put a ball of parchment paper in the hole so it doesn’t close during baking.

Finally, brush them with the beaten egg (4).

  • Place everything in a fan oven at 365-375°F and bake for 18-20 minutes, or until golden brown.

At the end, remove from the oven and discard the paper ball. Insert the previously drained and dried green olives into the hole (5).

  • Your savory puff pastry bunnies are ready to be served, perfect for the Easter aperitif!
