Crumbled Coffee Tart

  • First, prepare the cream. In a small pot, add the egg, sugar, coffee, and milk. Stir with a whisk. Add the flour and mix well, ensuring no lumps form. Move to the stovetop and cook the cream until it thickens. Stir continuously. Turn off the heat and cover with plastic wrap in contact. Set aside for a moment.

  • In a bowl, add the egg, sugar, flour, baking powder, milk, and oil. Start mixing with the spoon.

  • Add the 4 tablespoons of flour and chocolate chips or chunks and knead by hand until obtaining a homogeneous dough.

  • Add half of the dough (crumbling it) into a previously greased and floured 9.5-inch tart pan. Lightly compact with your hands.

  • To the cold cream, add some chopped chocolate and mix with a spatula.

  • Pour the cream into the pan. Cover with the remaining crumbs.

  • Bake in a preheated static oven at 350°F and let it bake for about 40 minutes. Be sure to check the cooking times based on your oven.

  • Once out of the oven, let it cool and store in the refrigerator until serving time.

  • If you like, dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Storage

The crumbled tart, containing pastry cream, should be stored in the fridge. It stays fresh and soft for 3-4 days in an airtight container or under a cake dome. It’s recommended to take it out 15 minutes before serving to better enjoy the flavors.
