I prepared the baby shower cookies to gift to a friend expecting her first baby girl. Themed cutters, a tried-and-true shortcrust pastry (the frollizzi), and a pinch of a secret ingredient. Don’t know what it is? It’s heart. To make cookies, you have to put your heart into it. Only then will you have crumbly and buttery treats! The technique for making the baby shower cookies is the same as all decorated cookies, so follow the steps, and they will be simply perfect.

Ingredients
The butter must be cold from the fridge, and the egg should be at room temperature. The doses of this shortcrust are suited for using the cookie stamp. Using a classic recipe or modifying the doses risks the design disappearing during baking.
With the indicated doses, you get about 40/50 cookies: it depends on the size of the cutters you decide to use.
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2/3 cup butter
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Tools
- 1 Mixer Kitchen Aid Artisan
- 1 Rolling Pin with thickness rings
- 1 Baking Sheet perforated
- 4 Cookie Cutters style 1
- 4 Cookie Cutters style 2
Steps
In the bowl of the stand mixer with the paddle attachment, work all the ingredients until they are compact and well combined: flour, powdered sugar, butter in pieces, egg, and vanilla.
Take the dough and work it on the work surface, forming a slightly flattened rectangular dough. Wrap it in plastic wrap and place it in the refrigerator for two hours.
After the rest time, return the dough to the lightly floured work surface and use the rolling pin with 2 1/2-inch thickness rings to roll out the pastry. Cut the cookies with the appropriate cutters and imprint the design using the related stamp.
Place the cookies on a perforated baking sheet and refrigerate for 15 minutes, then bake at 356 °F static, preheated for 15 minutes.
Notes
You can use the stand mixer, make the shortcrust by hand, or with the food processor. In this case, just place all the ingredients inside the bowl, start the machine, and work until the ingredients compact into a dough.
