Marinated Mozzarella Bites, fresh and ready to serve at any moment.

Marinated mozzarella bites are a fresh and tasty dish, ideal especially for the summer season.

It’s not the usual mozzarella appetizer you present at the table, perhaps accompanied by other seasonal vegetables. But a few carefully chosen ingredients are enough to transform mozzarella balls into a refined and surprising appetizer.

Simple, impactful, and ready to be served at any moment.

The star is the fresh mozzarella, to be chosen for quality.

The marinade is a harmony of scents. From mint to basil to garlic, ending with pink pepper.

The marinade is essential because it is not a simple seasoning, but a process that, although not “cooking,” transforms the mozzarella.

After a few hours in the fridge, you have a fresh and spicy appetizer ideal for summer appetizers, aperitifs, brunches, or cold buffets.

  • 9 oz mozzarella balls
  • 1 tsp pink pepper
  • 4 leaves mint
  • 6 leaves basil
  • 1 clove garlic
  • to taste extra virgin olive oil

Tools

  • 1 Teaspoon
  • 1 Jar
  • 1 Strainer

Steps for preparing marinated mozzarella bites

To prepare the delicious marinated mozzarella bites, take a 500 g jar or a glass salad bowl with lid

  • Place the mozzarella bites in a strainer and let them drain for at least 5 minutes to remove excess whey.

Then, pour them into the jar or salad bowl together with the garlic clove, pink pepper, and the mint and basil leaves torn by hand, and if you like, a pinch of fine salt.

Pour the extra virgin olive oil over them until they are completely covered. Close the jar or salad bowl and gently turn upside down several times to flavor all parts well and leave to marinate in the fridge for 2-3 hours.

The longer they rest, the more they absorb the flavor of the aromas.

After the resting time, take them out of the fridge at least 10 minutes before serving, so that the oil is not too thick, and they are ready to be plated and served. Enjoy your tasting from Barbara!

Storage and Tips

The drier the mozzarella, the more it absorbs the aromas.

Tear basil and mint leaves by hand so they do not oxidize and release more fragrance

If you want a stronger flavor, you can finely chop the garlic or crush it with a knife.

Store in the fridge for 24 hours in an airtight container. They will be even better the next day.
