Ingredients

  • 1 roll pizza dough
  • 3.5 oz cooked ham
  • 3.5 oz scamorza cheese
  • to taste oil

Tools

  • Air Fryers

Steps

Here’s how to make air fryer panzerotti in a few simple steps!

  • Take the slices of scamorza cheese and cooked ham. If the slices are too large, cut them in half.

  • Unroll the pizza dough and, using a pastry cutter, cut out circles. I used this large ravioli mold.

Remember, don’t waste the leftover dough! With the leftover dough, make a ball, roll it out with a rolling pin, and form another disc!

Place a slice of cooked ham and a slice of scamorza cheese in the center of each disc. Fold into a half-moon shape and seal the edges well by pressing with your fingers or the tines of a fork.

  • Place the panzerotti in the air fryer basket, brush or spray a little oil on top, and cook at 375°F for 10 minutes, turning them halfway through cooking.

  • When they are golden and crispy, remove them and enjoy them hot and melty!

Storage

The panzerotti are best when freshly made, but you can store them in the refrigerator for 1 day and reheat them in the air fryer or oven to make them crispy again.

Tips

• Seal the edges well to prevent the filling from leaking out during cooking.

Don’t overfill them, or it will be difficult to close them.

• Delicious variations: try with mozzarella and salami, ricotta and spinach, or tomato and oregano!

FAQs

  • Can I use a different type of cheese instead of scamorza?

Yes, you can replace scamorza with mozzarella, fontina, or any other cheese that melts easily. You can also use low-fat cheeses if you prefer a lighter version.

  • Can I prepare the panzerotti in advance and reheat them?

Yes, you can prepare them in advance and store them in the refrigerator for up to 1 day. When you’re ready to serve them, reheat them in the air fryer at 355°F for 5-7 minutes to make them crispy again.

  • Can I bake the panzerotti in the oven?

Yes, you can also bake them in the oven. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, brush them with a little oil, and bake at 390°F for about 15-20 minutes or until they are golden and crispy.
