Harlequin cookies with colorful sprinkles are cute and delicious treats that will amaze your kids.

They are luscious shortcrust pastry enriched with chocolate sprinkles, truly irresistible for the little ones and, alas, also for those who have long since passed that age.

Perfect for birthday parties, they will add cheerful colors to the cake table and the only precaution you need to take is to make them in abundance, because they will be gone in no time!

Great to prepare with your kids, involving them in cutting shapes or attaching the sprinkles, they will be a welcome snack for them, perhaps accompanied by a nice glass of milk or fruit juice.

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 5 oz butter (softened)
  • 2 eggs (large)
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 packet vanillin
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 3/4 cup colorful sprinkles (chocolate)

  • Rolling Pin (preferably graduated)
  • Baking Sheets oven

Steps

  • To prepare the harlequin cookies with chocolate sprinkles, in a bowl, beat the very soft butter cut into pieces with the powdered sugar and the vanillin using the electric whisk.

  • Once well combined, add the sifted flour with the baking powder and continue working, also adding the eggs.

  • Finish with a pinch of salt, continuing to work to distribute it well in the dough.

    Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and let it rest in the fridge for a few hours.

  • Take the dough out about ten minutes before you start working it.

    Line baking sheets with parchment paper and preheat the oven to 340°F (170°C), static function, place the rack in the center of the oven.

    Take a part of the dough, quickly soften it with your hands to restore its elasticity, and roll it out on a floured surface, preferably with a graduated rolling pin.

  • We should make cookies about 1/2 inch (1 cm) thick, and if they have a diameter of 1.8 inches (4.5 cm) like mine, you will get about 30.

    Make round cookies, place them on the parchment paper spaced apart, but not excessively, as they will hold their initial shape fairly well.

  • On the surface of the cookies, place 3 sprinkles of different colors, pressing to partially insert them into the dough. Bake for about 12 minutes.

    As soon as they are baked, let them cool for a few minutes on the tray and then transfer them to a rack.

  • The harlequin cookies with colorful sprinkles are now ready.
