Chocolate Christmas Cones

Chocolate Christmas cones are show-stopping and irresistible treats, perfect to prepare and enjoy during the holiday season.

They are a simple recipe inspired by the classic chocolate salami: no baking required and can be made without any particular difficulty.

The preparation is quick and fun, ideal for sharing with the little ones.

I love to make all the cones the same size to achieve a neat and elegant effect, but of course, it’s not an obligatory step: each cone can have a slightly different shape, making the result even more natural and artisanal.

The only phase that requires a bit of attention is inserting the cereal into the mixture, to best recreate the pinecone scale effect.

With a pinch of patience, however, the result is assured.

Once ready, a light dusting of powdered sugar will make them even more beautiful and realistic, reminiscent of winter snow.

Brought to the table, the chocolate cones become a real decorative element, perfect for enriching the holiday buffet or served as dessert during an evening with friends.

Ingredients (for 6 cones)

  • 7 oz cookies (dry)
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/3 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup hazelnut spread
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • as needed chocolate cereal flakes
  • as needed powdered sugar

Tools

  • 1 Small Pot
  • 1 Mixer
  • 1 Bowl
  • 1 Spatula
  • 1 Sugar Duster

Steps

  • To prepare the chocolate Christmas cones, start by melting the butter over a very low flame.

It’s better to stir continuously, so you can monitor it and prevent it from frying.

Let the melted butter cool down a bit.

  • Place the dry cookies in the blender bowl and grind them into a powder.

  • In a bowl, mix the ground cookies, sugar, and unsweetened cocoa.

  • Then add the butter, milk, and hazelnut spread and start incorporating with a spatula.

  • Next work the mixture with your hands.

With the obtained mixture, then form six balls, of the same size.

  • To each of these give an elongated shape, with a pointed top and a wide base.

  • Starting from the bottom, insert the wide side of the cereal flakes into them.

Arrange the ready cones on a tray and let them firm up in the fridge for a few hours to make them sturdier.

  • The chocolate Christmas cones are now ready.

    Serve dusted with powdered sugar.

  • Chocolate Christmas Cones

Storage

In the fridge, well sealed in an airtight container for sweets, for about 3 days. After this period, the cones are still good to eat for another 2 or 3 days, but the cereals will have softened.

Welcome to my blog "lericettediminu". I am Carmen D'Angelo, a Sicilian with a great love for cooking. I particularly enjoy making desserts, where I can best express my personal inclination not only for taste but also for beauty. It was my mother, Enza, who passed her passion for cooking on to me, and I try to honor her teachings by always striving to improve and deepen my knowledge. I am not a professional in the field, but having cooked since I was a child and read extensively on the subject, I believe I have gained a certain experience through practice. I am a wife and a mother in love with her family, and I created this blog to virtually welcome anyone who wishes to join me within the walls of my kitchen, which to me is a true treasure trove of flavor and emotions.
