PUFF PASTRY BOATS with LENTILS and BACON, a tasty New Year’s recipe to make quickly without sausage, perfect for midnight.
As tradition goes, lentils are eaten on New Year’s as a symbol of wealth or as a wish for a prosperous year, so I prepared simple puff pastry boats with lentils, bacon, and provolone.
The puff pastry boats with lentils and bacon recipe is very simple: you first cook the lentils as you prefer; I cooked them with tomato sauce, make the boats, and fill them.
A different idea from the usual puff pastry baskets, I love them and of course, if you prefer, you can add sausage pieces instead of sausage.

Cook for about 40 minutes, adding water if needed.
Cut the pastry into 5 pieces, join the short sides, and twist like candy, puncture the pastry, place a ball of aluminum foil in the center, and bake in a hot oven at 392°F for 10 minutes.
Let the lentils cool or warm slightly, fill the boats, add bacon and provolone pieces, bake again for a few minutes to melt the cheese.
