CHRISTMAS SPONGE CAKE TART with dried fruit, quick and easy, typical reggiana Christmas and New Year’s recipe, shortcrust pastry dessert.
This dessert is a true delight, the sponge cake is a tart with an incredible filling of dried fruit, honey, cookies, and spices that is prepared in no time and is worth trying.
It took me 10 years, finally after seeing it so much, I managed to prepare this delicious sponge cake, I must say that it was also really loved, it melts in your mouth and the filling is incredibly good.
An ancient typical Emilian dessert, one of those passed down for years in the family, but let’s say I did something similar a while ago without even knowing it.

Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 egg
- 1/3 cup butter
- 1/4 cup sugar
- to taste white wine
- 3 1/2 oz dry biscuits
- 1 3/4 oz almonds
- 1 1/2 oz hazelnuts
- 3/4 oz raisins
- 1/2 cup white wine
- 1 oz candied fruit
- 1/3 cup honey
- 1/2 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
Steps
Pour the flour into a bowl or onto the work surface and make a well in the center.
Add the sugar, butter, egg, a pinch of salt and mix, adding a little wine.
Make a ball and let it rest for 30 minutes.
Chop the candied fruit into pieces with a knife or in a mixer and set aside.
Crumble the cookies and combine them with the dried fruit, add the honey, move to the stove, let it melt, then add the wine, mix well, turn off and add the spices and chopped candied fruit.
Take the shortcrust and divide it into two parts, roll out one half in a 8-inch pan, fill with the filling, cover with the other half of the shortcrust, seal the edges, and bake in the preheated oven at 350°F
Bake for 30 minutes, then remove from the oven and let it cool completely before cutting.
