SMOKED SALMON PIADINA SWIRL TREE, quick and easy Christmas appetizer, delicious recipe to make in just a few minutes, a lightning idea for the Christmas holidays, HERE you can find many other ways to fill PIADINAS, or if you prefer sandwich bread HERE you find other ideas to fill the savory Christmas tree, or you can choose to make the tree with puff pastry like these HERE
Very simple and quick to prepare, the smoked salmon piadina swirl tree is a real delight, prepared in just a few minutes, even in advance, in fact, it’s much better to make it the day before.
The recipe for the smoked salmon piadina swirl tree is really simple and very tasty as an appetizer for Christmas or Christmas Eve, I added lumpfish roe which you can obviously omit if you don’t like it.
Red lumpfish roe works great too instead of black ones to give some color to this savory Christmas tree, delicious, I love it.
I prepared it with my daughter, who loves salmon, and our cat, who was drawn to the smell.
In short, a truly delightful idea that can be prepared in advance and kept in the fridge for a couple of days, and if you don’t like salmon, you can always vary with ham, speck, or mortadella.

Ingredients
- 3 piadinas (small, 3.5 oz each)
- 2.8 oz smoked salmon
- 4 tbsp mayonnaise (approximately)
- 4 cups mixed salad greens
- 1 jar lumpfish roe (caviar substitute) (optional)
Preparation
For the recipe, use rollable piadinas, mine are small, about 3.5 oz, but larger ones work too.
Lay the piadinas flat and fill with mayonnaise, the amount is up to your preference.
Add the salmon cut into strips and the washed and patted dry salad greens.
Roll them up and wrap the piadinas in plastic wrap, refrigerate for 30 minutes.
You can cut them right away but they might open up; after the time has passed, cut them into slices about 1.2 inches thick, you should have 5 usable swirls per piadina.
Arrange them on the serving plate starting with 1, then 2, 3, up to 5, and place two at the bottom for the trunk.
Bon appétit
