SAVORY PUFF PASTRY STAR WITH SALMON and AVOCADO, appetizer for Christmas or Christmas Eve, easy and quick to prepare, delicious recipe with a simple cold mousse.
Extremely easy to prepare, the savory puff pastry star filled with a mousse of avocado and salmon is truly delicious, perfect as an appetizer for Christmas or Christmas Eve, it can also be prepared in advance.
I liked the idea of creating a simple yet pretty appetizer with ingredients typical for the Christmas holidays like avocado and salmon that we usually find on canapés.
I had my son draw a star on a 6-inch cardboard for me while I prepared the mousse with ricotta and avocado blended to which I then added pieces of smoked salmon.
Nothing simpler yet refined, with ingredients that I find truly delicious. Of course, if you don’t like salmon and avocado, you can opt for tuna or cooked ham.
Puff pastry is perfect for making quick appetizers, but ready-made or homemade shortcrust pastry is also fine if you prefer.

Ingredients
- 1 puff pastry
- 9 oz ricotta
- 1 avocado
- 1.75 oz smoked salmon
- 1 tsp lemon juice
Preparation
The quantities are for a 6-inch star like mine; for a star as large as a roll of puff pastry, you need 2 rolls and should at least double the quantities.
Cut out 2 equal stars from the puff pastry, pierce with a fork and bake in a preheated oven at 390°F for 15 minutes until golden.
Peel the avocado and cut it into pieces, place it in a container, add the lemon juice, and blend with an immersion blender.
Combine the ricotta and salt to taste, and blend again. Cut the salmon into strips and set aside.
Sprinkle the cream with chopped parsley and mix it in. Fill one star using a pastry bag or simply a spoon, and add pieces of salmon.
Close with the other star, also fill on top, decorate with puff pastry stars, slices of salmon in the center, and avocado.
