Oven-Baked Stuffed Turkey Breast

The oven-baked stuffed turkey breast is a very tasty main dish, you can prepare it in advance, with few ingredients but combined in the right way you’ll have a sublime dish to enjoy even with your loved ones! You can prepare the stuffed turkey breast in advance, then once it’s cooled down, slice it and store it well covered in the fridge, when the time is right, just reheat it in the oven for a moment and it will be like freshly made!

Ingredients for Oven-Baked Stuffed Turkey Breast

  • 15.5 oz turkey breast (not too thinly sliced (about 4 slices))
  • 7 oz mortadella (thinly sliced, with or without pistachios)
  • 1 medium-sized zucchini
  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 tbsp water
  • to taste fine salt
  • to taste mixed peppercorns (freshly ground)

Preparation of Oven-Baked Stuffed Turkey Breast

  • Lay the turkey breast slices (or turkey breast fillets, as you prefer) on the work surface, slightly overlapping them lengthwise, then flatten the overlapping parts with the meat tenderizer, and lightly salt the surface.

  • Clean and wash the zucchini, grate it with a large-toothed grater and place it in a bowl, season with salt and pepper, and mix. Wait a few minutes, then press the zucchini and drain the liquid that forms, set aside.

  • On the turkey breast, place the thinly sliced mortadella evenly, then add the zucchini over the mortadella and spread it across the surface with a spoon.

  • Start rolling from the shorter side and finish forming a roll, close and tie the turkey roll with kitchen twine, place it in a non-stick baking pan, season with a pinch of salt, olive oil, and water.

  • Preheat the oven to 482°F (250°C) and when it’s hot, cover the baking pan with a sheet of parchment paper and bake. Cook covered for the first 30 minutes, then remove the parchment paper on top and continue cooking for another 30/45 minutes (it greatly depends on the ovens, they are not all the same!) occasionally turning the roll.

  • The stuffed turkey breast is cooked when the liquid formed has evaporated and the pan has a delicious sauce made from the oil and liquids released by the meat and stuffing, once cooked, take it out of the oven!

  • Once taken out of the oven, let the stuffed turkey breast cool, then remove all the twine and slice it into about 0.4-inch (1 cm) thick slices, serve it drizzled with its cooking juices, and enjoy your meal!
