APPLE PASTRY BRAID with cherry jam, a simple and quick sweet perfect for breakfast for both adults and children, also delicious as a snack.
The apple pastry braid enriched with jam is delicious, a simple dessert ideal for the whole family’s breakfast. If you love apple desserts, you must try it.
The recipe for the apple pastry braid is very simple. I decided to change things up and not use the usual puff pastry, even though it’s a quicker option.
Of course, you can opt for ready-made puff pastry. I used cherry jam because I like it a lot, but you can fill the braid with your favorite jam.

- Cooking methods: Oven
- Cuisine: Italian
- Seasonality: Fall, Winter, and Spring
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 7 tbsps butter
- 1 packet baking powder
- 1 egg
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1 apple (large)
- as needed jam
Preparation
Prepare the shortcrust pastry by placing the flour, baking powder, butter, sugar, and egg in the processor or on a pastry board and work quickly. Add milk if needed.
Preheat the oven to 350°F. Then take the pastry and roll it out on a floured surface, creating a rectangle 1/8 inch thick.
Place the rectangle with the short side facing you and make diagonal cuts on both sides as shown HERE
Spread the jam, then wash, peel, and cut the apple into small chunks or slices, and place them on the jam.
Braid the pastry and close it underneath to prevent the jam from leaking out.
Sprinkle with granulated sugar and bake for 20 minutes, until golden. Bon appétit
