Ingredients
- 1 roll puff pastry (rectangular)
- 1.4 oz butter
- 10.6 oz Abate pears (2 pears)
- 2.1 oz dark chocolate
- 2 tbsp apricot jam
- to taste powdered sugar
Tools
- Brush
- Pizza Cutter
- Saucepan
Steps
Here’s a tip: before working with the pastry, roll it out slightly with a rolling pin. You’ll see it puff up better during baking 😉
Arrange all the ingredients on the work surface: pears, chocolate, rectangular puff pastry, brush, and pizza cutter.
In a saucepan, melt the butter and let it cool slightly. Cut the puff pastry lengthwise into 3 strips and using the kitchen brush spread the butter.
Overlap the 3 strips and roll up the pastry.
Wrap in parchment paper and let rest in the freezer for about 1 hour.
Meanwhile, prepare the other ingredients for the filling of the pear and chocolate puff pastries. Chop the chocolate and dice the pears, then add the remaining melted butter from the saucepan.
Add 2 teaspoons of apricot jam and stir to combine.
Take the roll out of the freezer and cut it into slices about 1 cm thick. Preheat the oven to 356 degrees Fahrenheit and continue preparing the pear and chocolate puff pastries.
Shape the dough into oval forms. A slight pressure on the slice’s surface will suffice.
Fill the pear and chocolate puff pastries by placing the seasoned pear and chopped chocolate in the center of the dough.
Seal forming small crescents, then transfer the pastry with the puff pastries onto a baking sheet and bake in a preheated oven at 356 degrees Fahrenheit for about 20 minutes.
Once baking is complete, turn off the oven leaving the door slightly open and let the pear and chocolate puff pastries cool completely.
A dusting of powdered sugar and the pear and chocolate puff pastries are ready to enjoy!
