Today for you, the NEW YORK ROLLS, the new trend that is taking the internet by storm. These rolled croissants, also known as croissant rolls, are filled with cream and can be made at home using ready-made croissant dough. They are very showy and definitely easy to make. If you cannot find ready-made croissant dough, you can use puff pastry cut into strips and rolled onto itself to form a “roll.” At the bottom of this recipe, you will find my final thoughts. Let’s see together how to prepare these New York Rolls in the following recipe.
- Difficulty: Very easy
- Cost: Very cheap
- Preparation time: 5 Minutes
- Portions: 6
- Cooking methods: Electric oven
- Cuisine: American
Ingredients
- 1 package croissants
- as needed hazelnut spread
- as needed hazelnut crumbs
- 1 egg yolk
Steps
Preparing New York Rolls is really very simple. Start by lining a baking sheet with parchment paper and setting the oven to 356°F (static mode). Then beat the egg yolk. Now open the vacuum-sealed package of croissants and cut 6 rolls of equal size. Place them on the baking sheet on parchment paper. I created rings with aluminum foil, but I don’t think they are absolutely necessary.
Now brush your Rolls with the egg yolk and bake for about 15-20 minutes or until they become golden. CAUTION: during baking, the rolls will tend to swell, so use a teaspoon to press them down with the concave side inward so they flatten. Once ready, let them cool and prepare a pastry bag with a funnel nozzle and fill it with hazelnut cream. If the cream is too thick, warm it in the microwave for a few seconds. Then make a hole on the edge of the rolls and fill them with hazelnut cream, letting it ooze from the sides for the final decoration. Then decorate with hazelnut crumbs and enjoy.

Here are my final thoughts: New York Rolls are good, but they didn’t have that WOW effect I was expecting. Maybe it’s because the inside is quite dry, maybe it’s because there’s a lot of dough, I couldn’t tell you. If I had to give a score, it would be a 7 out of 10. Maybe next time I will try to fill them from the sides to make them fuller with cream.

It goes without saying that you can fill New York Rolls with pistachio cream, vanilla cream, and any creams you prefer. You can decorate them with pistachios, crushed cookies, almonds, etc. They are very versatile little pastries that you can make very showy, just use a bit of imagination.
