Shrimp with Spicy Soy Sauce Bell Peppers

Flavorful and quick shrimp with bell peppers in soy sauce and chili for a slightly spicy taste. The idea was to replicate salt and pepper shrimp, but knowing I didn’t have the right shrimp, actually prawns, already peeled, I thought I’d make a small variation, and yes, in the end, we liked them so much that I thought I’d share the recipe, even better than the classic salt and pepper shrimp and then there’s no issue with peeling them. The dish is prepared in a few minutes, also great as a pasta topping or on a bruschetta for a tasty appetizer, perfect for those with little time who want to eat tasty, healthy, and light. Too bad I didn’t brown the shrimp first, maybe next time, using nice big shrimp first dusted with flour and seasoned with plenty of black pepper.

Steps to Prepare Spicy Shrimp with Bell Peppers

  • Chop onion and bell peppers into cubes.

  • Add a drizzle of oil to the pan, add the onion, and let it stew lightly over low heat.

  • Add the bell peppers and let them cook for a few minutes. Also, add finely chopped chili pepper and ground black pepper.

  • When the bell peppers are ready, crunchy, or softer if you prefer, add the well-dried shrimp, salt, and soy sauce, allow to season for a minute, do not overcook to avoid toughening the shrimp. We are ready to serve.

  • Even better if we use shrimp seasoned with salt, pepper, and floured, browned in a little oil, and added finally to season with the bell peppers.
