If you’re looking for a dessert that combines taste and wellness, this healthy, light, no-sugar individual apple pie is the perfect solution.
Let me tell you how this recipe came about. Every now and then I find myself flipping through my daughter’s old issues of Mickey Mouse, and I came across the classic story of Grandma Duck preparing Apple Pie for her nephews Huey, Dewey, and Louie.
Given the autumn day (sometimes I can’t believe it’s late May) and since I had some apples in the fridge, I thought of preparing the pie in an individual, no-sugar version: a perfect way to avoid overindulging in portions and have practical sweets to take to the park or the office.
This individual version of the apple pie is practical and perfect for breakfasts and snacks, especially if you’re following a balanced diet or need to limit sugar.
Easy to prepare and full of flavor, it’s a great alternative to classic apple pies full of refined sugars.
So, what are you waiting for? Let’s make this no-sugar, healthy and light individual apple pie together.
Oh wow, how delicious!

Try my version of the individual apple pie, light and perfect for any time of the day!
In a pan, place 1/4 oz of butter (a thin slice) and the apples (Golden or Renette are perfect), which you have peeled and sliced to about 1/4 inch thick and squeezed the juice of half a lemon over to prevent browning, and start mixing.
Add the cinnamon and blend everything together, adding a few tablespoons of water.
Add a tablespoon of flour (or half of cornstarch).
Cook until the apples are soft and let them cool.
Using a pastry cutter or a glass, cut out circles.
Fill each disc with the cooked apples, cut strips of dough, and create small lattices to form your tarts.
Brush the tarts with egg yolk (optional).
Bake in a preheated static oven at 356°F for about 10–15 minutes, until the tarts are golden.
Let them cool for a few minutes and enjoy them warm or cold.
🍏 Extra Tip:
Short on time or don’t want to turn on the oven? No problem: you can also cook your no-sugar individual apple pie in an air fryer, achieving a golden, crispy, and delicious result in just a few minutes.
In that case, arrange the tarts in the air fryer container and place them in the basket, leaving some space between each.
Cook at 320°F for 10 minutes, keeping an eye on the browning. Each model may vary slightly in time, so watch them closely in the last minutes.
If you notice they darken too much on top, you can cover the tarts with a piece of parchment paper.
