Ingredients for Romantic Valentine Heart Cake
- 3/4 cup flour
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 1/2 cup butter (Soft)
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 3 eggs
- 1 lemon zest (Grated)
- 1 tbsp red food coloring
- 5 oz dark chocolate
- 2/3 cup milk or cream (More milk for soaking)

- 1 cup ricotta
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar

Preparation of Romantic Valentine Heart Cake
Let’s see how to prepare the romantic Valentine heart cake.
First, prepare the sponge cake. In a bowl, sift the flour and baking powder, add the sugar and the red food coloring and mix. Add the butter at room temperature, it should be soft, cut into pieces, then add the eggs and the grated zest of one lemon. Mix with an electric whisk at low speed, then increase the speed until smooth and homogeneous.
Pour into a heart-shaped pan, greased and floured, and bake in a preheated oven at 350°F for about 35 minutes.
While it cools, prepare the cream by mixing the ricotta well with the powdered sugar. Cut the cake in half, level the top part and set aside, soak the two cake halves with almond milk, fill with the cream, sprinkle with some crumbled cake, and add dark chocolate chips. Cover with the other half of the cake.
Heat the milk and before boiling, turn off, add the chopped dark chocolate and mix well. Once melted, cover the entire cake. Crumble the set aside cake and decorate the cake edges. Roll out the red fondant, cut out hearts, and complete the decoration.

You can also decorate with red sugar hearts if you can’t find fondant. The cake can be stored in the refrigerator for a couple of days in a closed container.
