Preparation of Gingerbread Cookies

  • Let’s see how to prepare gingerbread cookies.

Pour the sifted flour with baking soda into a bowl, add the sugar, honey, egg, and powdered spices and mix well. Then add the softened butter to the mixture and knead well on a work surface with your hands until it becomes smooth and homogeneous. Allow the dough to rest for at least half an hour in the refrigerator, wrapped in cling film. Roll out the dough with a rolling pin to about half a centimeter thick and cut with cookie cutters. Place the cookies on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake at 350°F in the preheated oven for about 12/15 minutes depending on the desired consistency. Allow them to cool well before decorating. Meanwhile, prepare the icing by pouring the powdered sugar and egg white into a small bowl and mixing well. You can add a few drops of lemon juice to make the icing tastier and decorate as you like using a pastry bag with a small nozzle, or alternatively, there are syringe-like containers specifically for decorations.

notes

Want to make a hole in the cookies to hang them? Before baking them, make a small hole with a toothpick. Store the gingerbread cookies in a sealed container for about 10 days.
