The chestnuts with white wine in an air fryer are an aromatic, fragrant, and original version of the classic roasted chestnuts in an air fryer.
The white wine adds an extra touch of flavor that makes them even more irresistible.
The recipe for the chestnuts in an air fryer with white wine involves a quick pre-cooking with water and wine. This step makes the roasted chestnuts softer and tastier.
My dad always makes me roasted chestnuts with wine in a pan, and no one does it like him, but I have to say that with this method, they come quite close.
This recipe is perfect if you want to know how to make chestnuts in an air fryer or prepare roasted chestnuts in a fryer with soaking: the white wine enriches the air fryer chestnuts with a refined touch and an intense autumn aroma.
The result is a chestnut that is soft inside and crunchy outside, like the classic pan-roasted chestnuts, but without smoke and mess in the kitchen.
In short, chestnuts in an air fryer soaked first in water and wine, is an original and surprising recipe. Ideal to enjoy warm, perhaps with a good glass of the same wine used for cooking.

Steps for preparing chestnuts with white wine in an air fryer
To prepare the delicious chestnuts, start by choosing fresh, firm, non-wormy chestnuts of similar size, to ensure uniform cooking
Wash the chestnuts thoroughly under running water to remove any dirt and impurities
On a cutting board, make a cross-cut with a knife on the rounded side of the chestnuts so that they open during cooking. Also, cut the skin under the shell without cutting the fruit
Pour them into a pot and cover them completely with water, then add the white wine. Bring to a boil and cook for 2 minutes.
When the incision opens and you feel the pulp is tender (you can test with a toothpick), the cooking is done
Immediately after removing from the fryer, wrap the hot chestnuts in a clean cloth, closing it like a “pouch”.
Let them rest for 5-10 minutes: the residual steam helps to detach the shell and the inner skin.
Peel them while still hot, starting from the cut part: the shell should come off more easily
Storage
The freshly cooked chestnuts can be kept at room temperature for 24 hours, covered with a dry cloth to keep them soft.
After 24 hours, they become dry and hard.
They can be stored in the fridge for 2-3 days in a airtight container
To soften them again, you can heat them for 2-3 minutes in an air fryer at 320°F.
You can freeze them for up to 3 months, peeled and stored in freezer bags or airtight containers
