The Baked Ziti with Béchamel Sauce is a truly fantastic dish. Everyone always loves it, and in the end, it can also be considered a one-dish meal because it contains pasta, tomato, and cheese. I consider it as such because when I prepare it, my husband and I eat only that, plentiful, but I don’t put anything else on the table… too good!!!!

- 14 oz ziti
- 2.2 lbs tomato pulp
- 5 oz béchamel sauce
- 7 oz mozzarella
- 4 tbsps extra virgin olive oil
- 8 tbsps grated Parmesan cheese
- to taste salt
- Half onion
- to taste basil
Tools
- Bowl large
- 2 Pots
- Baking dish
Preparation
First of all, organize your workspace with all the ingredients already measured out so that everything is at hand.
Cut the mozzarella into pieces and let it drain so it can lose as much water as possible.
In the meantime, in a saucepan, sauté the chopped onion with the extra virgin olive oil.
Add the tomato pulp, salt, and a few basil leaves to make it tasty and fragrant, and cook for about 20 minutes.
While the sauce is cooking, if you don’t like industrial products, prepare the BÉCHAMEL SAUCE by hand, but halve the doses you will find by clicking on the link, which will take you to the recipe.
Cook the ziti broken in half and drain them very al dente because they will need to finish cooking in the oven.
Then pour them into a large salad bowl, add the sauce, mozzarella pieces, 6 tablespoons Parmesan, and béchamel sauce, and mix all the ingredients well.
Pour all the mixture into a baking dish, but before baking, sprinkle the surface with the remaining grated Parmesan to create a tasty crust during cooking.
Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F for about 30 minutes, or until you see a nice browning.
Turn off and serve your Baked Ziti with Béchamel Sauce straight from the oven, as it should be eaten very hot to see the mozzarella stretch.
Tip: if you want to prepare a larger quantity, you can store it in the freezer before putting it in the oven.
