Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3.4 oz milk
  • 1 egg
  • 0.14 oz fresh yeast
  • 0.7 oz butter
  • 1.8 oz sugar
  • 1.8 oz almonds
  • 1.8 oz raisins
  • 1.8 oz candied fruit
  • Port wine
  • 1 orange zest
  • 1 lemon zest

Steps

  • Soak the raisins with chopped almonds in wine for about half an hour.

  • In a bowl, dissolve the yeast with milk, let it rest for 30 minutes, then add the rest of the ingredients: butter, egg, sugar, flour, almonds, raisins, and candied fruit.

  • Knead well, form a ball, and let it rise in a bowl covered with plastic wrap until doubled, about 4 to 6 hours.

  • Once risen, take the dough, form a log, shape it into a ring, decorate with almonds, and let it rise for another 20 minutes.

  • Preheat the oven to 356°F and bake for 20-25 minutes, test with a toothpick in several places; it should come out dry.
