Almond Waffles

Almond Waffles: a recipe to prepare breakfast in a few minutes, much like making a mug cake quickly. Waffles are a dessert with a surface that resembles a grid or a honeycomb. They are soft inside and crispy on the outside, as they are cooked between two hot plates. This is a typical Belgian dessert known worldwide. In the Middle Ages, a master blacksmith and an abbot met and, by joining forces, invented a batter to be cooked between two cast iron plates.

  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 2 tbsp sugar

  • 1/3 cup almonds

Tools to Prepare Waffles

Steps to Prepare Waffles

  • To prepare the waffle batter, I replaced milk with cream for a richer consistency. During cooking, it doesn’t overflow from the waffle maker.

The time it takes for the waffle maker to heat up is about the same time you’ll need to prepare the batter. Meanwhile, melt the butter in the microwave for 50 seconds at 1000 watts.

  • Place the almonds in the chopper and chop them.

  • No need to wash the chopper, add the cream, flour, sugar, baking powder, and egg.

  • Mix everything for a few seconds.

  • Add the melted butter and

  • the finely chopped almonds.

  • Mix again for a few seconds.

  • This fantastic waffle maker, you can find the purchase link above in the description, turns off the light when it reaches the correct temperature.

  • Put a generous tablespoon of batter in the waffle maker, close it, and wait a minute, then check the cooking.

  • Remove the waffle as soon as it’s ready.

  • Continue this way until you finish all the batter. I made 6 waffles with these ingredients.

  • The almond waffles are ideal for a morning breakfast, maybe with some apricot jam homemade by me, of course.

Tips on How to Serve Waffles.

One of my favorite ways is with fresh whipped cream and accompanied by seasonal fresh fruit, like pomegranate, for example. Waffles can be simply topped with honey and toasted pistachios.

My name is Pina, and my passion is food and cooking in general. On the blog, I focus on regional dishes like those from my birthplace, Sicily. I also feature dishes from Lazio, the region that has hosted me for over 40 years, but in general, I cover all Italian regions. Traveling and exploring is my second passion, so I couldn't leave out dishes from around the "World" on my blog. My blog is divided into simple and essential sections like appetizers, first courses, main courses, side dishes, bread and leavened products, jams and preserves, wines and wineries, and of course, travels. Desserts are included, and finally, there is a dedicated corner for gluten-free options. Easy recipes, explained step by step and always updated.
