The dry tree-shaped crackers are ideal as an appetizer or to accompany cured meats and cheeses. A cute and very simple idea to make for the holidays. You will need a few ingredients to make these tree-shaped crackers, the dough does not require yeast, just let it rest for 20 minutes and then roll it out thinly. Come along with me and let’s start experimenting.
a hug, Giusi.
- Rest time: 20 Minutes
- Preparation time: 5 Minutes
- Portions: 35 pieces
- Cooking methods: Oven
- Cuisine: Italian
Ingredients
- 2 cups re-milled durum wheat semolina flour (Or all-purpose flour)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1.4 oz extra virgin olive oil
- 1/2 cup water
Steps
In a large bowl, place the flour in a mound, add the lukewarm water, olive oil, and salt, and mix with a fork, then use your hands to knead until you obtain a smooth and homogeneous dough.
Let the dough rest for 20 minutes covered with a cloth.
After the resting time, divide the dough in two and start rolling it out very thinly, creating shapes. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and brush the trees with extra virgin olive oil, decorate as desired with oregano, paprika, small carrots, or whatever you prefer.
Bake in a preheated static oven at 392 degrees Fahrenheit for 8-10 minutes, checking often after 5 minutes.
