Crumbles are the delicious single-serving version of the classic crumb cake, but with a big advantage: they are infinitely versatile in filling!
I prepared them in two irresistible versions: with delicious hazelnut cream and a sweet fruit jam. There’s truly a crumble for everyone’s taste.
These treats are incredibly easy and quick to make. The base is a crumbly short pastry that provides a crunchy shell that literally melts in the mouth. Crumbles are perfect for any occasion, from snack time to dessert.
Let’s start baking!

Ingredients for the crumbles
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 3 1/2 tbsp butter
- 1 egg
- Jam (Or spreadable creams)
Steps for the crumbles
In a bowl, pour all the ingredients and mix quickly until you create large crumbs. If necessary, add one or two tablespoons of water to help you (the amount depends on the size of the egg used).
Once the dough is ready, place small piles on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. With these quantities, you will get about six crumbles.Once the dough is placed on the parchment paper, press down slightly on the bottom and sides to compact the base.
Place in the center the jam or hazelnut cream for the filling.
Place the remaining crumbs of the dough over the filling to cover it completely.
Bake at 356°F in a preheated static oven for 15 minutes, placing the tray in the center of the oven.
Remove from the oven and let cool completely before moving the crumbles.
The crumbles are ready to be enjoyed. They’re ideal to serve as a snack or a tasty after-meal treat.

See you soon and a hug, Giusi
