  • Cooking methods: Stove
  • Cuisine: Italian
  • Seasonality: All seasons

Ingredients

  • 12 oz carrots (cleaned about 8 oz)
  • 5.3 oz onion (cleaned)
  • 2 tbsps butter
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tbsps soy sauce
  • 1 tsp ground ginger
  • 1 pinch fine salt

Steps

  • Wash, clean, and finely slice the onion.

  • Melt the butter in a pan, then add the previously sliced onion.

  • Wash, peel, and slice the carrots into not too thick rounds. Choose smaller ones to make slicing easier.

  • Once the onion has softened slightly, add the carrots.

  • Cook for about a minute, then add the water.

  • Now add the soy sauce, ginger, and salt.

  • Cover with a lid and cook for about 10-15 minutes on medium heat. Check occasionally to ensure the water hasn’t evaporated and stir from time to time.

  • When the carrots are quite tender, remove the lid and let all the water evaporate. Lightly brown them and serve them hot!

Tips and Advice

Use smaller carrots to make slicing easier.

You can use oil instead of butter, but the taste won’t be the same.
