Water and Apple Cake

Ingredients for the water and apple cake

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 3/8 cup granulated sugar
  • 0.6 oz baking powder
  • 1/2 cup lukewarm water
  • 1 lemon (juice + zest)
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 2 apples

Steps for the water and apple cake

  • First, slice the apples thinly and mix with the lemon juice and zest in a bowl, set aside.

    In a large bowl, start mixing the flour, baking powder, and sugar to evenly distribute the dry ingredients.
    Then add the water, oil, and milk, and finally incorporate the eggs that you have previously beaten. Continue working the batter until all the ingredients are well combined.
    Finally, add the sliced apples and the lemon juice to the batter. Mix well to distribute the fruit evenly.

  • Pour the batter into a baking pan, which you can choose to line with parchment paper or grease and flour carefully.
    Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F for about 40 minutes, or until the surface is golden.

Storage

To keep your water and apple cake as soft as just baked, store it under a glass dome or in an airtight container. This way it will keep well at room temperature for 2-3 days.

If the environment is very hot, I recommend putting it in the fridge, making sure to let it rest out for a few minutes before eating to regain its full softness. If you prefer, you can also slightly warm each slice for a few seconds.
