A simple idea to make, but very tasty for adults and children? Here’s the Puff Pastry Ghost with Custard. Of course, you can fill it with whatever you like, sweet or savory, according to your taste. It’s also great with jam or filled with ham and cheese, let your imagination run wild.

  • Difficulty: Very Easy
  • Cost: Very Cheap
  • Preparation time: 30 Minutes
  • Portions: 6People
  • Cooking methods: Oven
  • Cuisine: Italian
  • Seasonality: Halloween

Ingredients

  • 2 puff pastry (rectangular, 275g each)
  • 10.5 oz custard
  • 2 tablespoons fig jam
  • to taste powdered sugar

Steps

  • Draw the ghost figure on a sheet of baking paper. If you’re skilled, you can also draw it directly on the puff pastry.

  • Now cut out the shape with scissors. Position the cut-out ghost on the first sheet of puff pastry. Cut the edges with a knife.

  • Do the same on the second puff pastry, adding two holes for the eyes. Remove the excess parts.

  • Cover the entire surface of the ghost with custard, leaving at least half an inch from the edge, otherwise the filling will tend to spill out during cooking.

Prepare the custard following the recipe you’ll find here, but with these quantities: 1 egg, 50g of sugar, 25g of flour, 200ml of milk.

  • Remove the excess parts.

  • Place the second puff pastry on top, the one with the eyes cut out.

  • Seal the edges well with a fork to prevent the filling from spilling out.

  • Put two tablespoons of jam on the eyes (I chose fig jam).

  • Bake at 350°F for about 20 minutes.

  • Once out of the oven, sprinkle with powdered sugar.
