Country-style Chicken

Country-style chicken is a succulent main course to prepare any time of the year.

The weekend is approaching and the weather remains variable, let’s hope it improves because I wanted to take some trips around here 🙂

While waiting for the weather to improve, let me tell you about the main course I enjoyed today at lunch.

I prepared country-style chicken, which is a very simple dish to make.

I used vegetables like carrots, potatoes, tomatoes, and peas.

Peas are starting to peek through, so during this period, you can use fresh ones, while if you prepare the chicken at other times, you can use frozen ones.

In my version, I also added potatoes, and it turned out to be more than a delicious main course 😉

Instead of drumsticks, you can use thighs.

The cooking time for the chicken depends on the size of the drumsticks, so you’ll need to adjust accordingly.

Ingredients for country-style chicken

  • 8 chicken drumsticks
  • 1 onion
  • 1 celery (stalk)
  • 5 carrots
  • 5 potatoes
  • 7 oz peas
  • 2 tomatoes
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • to taste salt
  • to taste pepper

  • 1 Pan
  • 1 Knife
  • 1 Wooden spoon
  • 1 Spoon
  • Garlic press

Steps for country-style chicken

  • Prepare the chopped vegetables and mince the garlic.

    Heat a large pan with a tablespoon of oil and brown the chicken drumsticks over high heat. (I took just a few minutes).

    Add the celery stalk, carrots, onion, tomatoes, with the minced garlic.

    Add a bit of hot water, cover with a lid, and cook over low heat for about 40 minutes, stirring occasionally with a wooden spoon.

    Add the potatoes, after 5 minutes add the peas, and continue cooking for another 10 minutes.

    Once cooked, add oil and salt to taste.

    Serve the country-style chicken immediately.
