- 2 Eggs
- 1 teaspoon Baking powder
- 1 pinch Salt
- 1 tablespoon Butter
- 20 tablespoons Rum
Preparation of Chocolate Chiacchiere
In a bowl, pour the flour, sugar, half a teaspoon of baking powder, and a pinch of salt. Mix the ingredients with a wooden spoon.
Add the eggs, butter, and a tablespoon of Rum. Then, mix the ingredients quickly with your hands. You will obtain a compact and homogeneous dough.
Form a dough ball and, after wrapping it in cling film, let it rest in the fridge for 30 minutes.
After half an hour, take the pastry from the fridge and roll it out on a lightly floured work surface with the help of a rolling pin.
With a pastry wheel, cut medium-sized rectangles and make an incision in the center.
Place the chiacchiere on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Bake at 356°F (180°C) for 15 minutes. Remove from the oven and let cool on a wire rack.
Melt the dark chocolate in a double boiler and use a kitchen brush to spread it over half the surface of the chiacchiere. Let dry on the rack
Serve the chocolate chiacchiere on a tray decorated ad hoc for Carnival.
Storage
The chocolate chiacchiere can be perfectly preserved for 4–5 days in an airtight container at room temperature and away from heat sources. It’s preferable to separate them with parchment paper to avoid damaging the chocolate.
Refrigeration is not recommended, as it would make the pastry less crumbly.
