Ingredients for the air fryer chocolate muffins:
- 1 medium egg (at room temperature)
- 3 tbsp + 1 tsp milk (at room temperature)
- 2 tbsp + 2 tsp vegetable oil
- 5 tbsp granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup + 1 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 2 tbsp + 2 tsp sweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 sachet baking powder
- as needed pistachio crumbs (or pistachio flour)
- as needed chocolate chips
Tools for the air fryer chocolate muffins:
- 1 Air fryer
- 5 Silicone liners
- 1 Bowl
- 1 Electric whisk
Steps for preparing and baking the chocolate muffins:
In a large bowl put the egg and the sugar and start whipping the two ingredients with an electric mixer, then add the vegetable oil and the milk and blend them into the mixture.
Now add the flour sifted together with the baking powder and the cocoa powder and, still using the electric mixer, work the batter well until it is homogeneous, smooth and free of lumps.
If you like, you can also add chocolate chips or chocolate shavings (about 3/4 oz, roughly 20 g) and fold them into the batter with a silicone spatula.
Place 5 silicone liners on the air fryer rack (no need to oil or flour them), put about two heaping tablespoons of batter into each liner, then place the rack into the air fryer basket and bake at 338°F for 12 minutes.
Once baked, while still warm, decorate them with pistachio flour or chocolate shavings, or leave them undecorated and, when cooled, dust with powdered sugar.
Once cool, remove them from the liners and place them on a serving plate. If you like, you can also top them with a generous dollop of whipped cream.
FAQ (Questions and Answers)

With 1.75 oz of melted butter (about 3 1/2 tbsp) melted in the microwave and then cooled.

Can I add a soft center?
Yes, you can place a small square of chocolate or a teaspoon of spreadable cream in the center of the batter before baking to get a soft, indulgent center.
What is the difference between muffins made in the oven and in the air fryer?
In the air fryer the times are shorter and the baking is faster. The result is very similar to the oven, but with less energy consumption and less waiting time.
