Baked Apples are a memory from my childhood. When I was little, my paternal grandmother Teresa from the province of Cuneo often made them, adding crumbled amaretti inside.
- Difficulty: Easy
- Cost: Inexpensive
- Preparation time: 20 Minutes
- Cooking time: 30 Minutes
- Portions: 9 apples
- Cuisine: Italian
Ingredients
- 8 Golden Apples, about 3.5 oz each
- 2 tablespoons Brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon Ground cinnamon (optional)
- as needed spray butter (cooking spray for pans)
Instructions
Wash the apples well and remove the core from eight apples using an apple corer.
Peel only one apple and cut it into small cubes.
Spray the baking dish with spray butter and place the apples inside with the stem end facing up.
Place the apple pieces in the cavity left by the core removal.
Add at least 3 glasses of water to the bottom of the dish, sprinkle the apples with sugar and cinnamon (to taste) and bake at 356°F for 60 minutes.
Notes
I used apples weighing about 3.5 oz each, obviously the cooking time depends on the size of the apples used. The best apples to use are Golden, as they have a firmer flesh that doesn’t break down during cooking.
